Smartboards are
used in a variety of ways at our school. At Barnier
we use our Interactive Whiteboards for instructional
purposes, demonstration, multimedia, storage and retrieval,
and going with the flow. We consider the interactive
white board technology to be integral to the teaching
and learning cycle.
The main advantages of using an interactive whiteboard
are increased student engagement and decreased
unsettled behaviour, and reduced classroom management
issues.
Children today are living in a digital world. The
Interactive Whiteboard allows teachers to provide
lessons with
greater relevance to childrens' everyday lives.
Senteos are
a Personal Respose System (PRS)
technology that we began using at Barnier in classrooms
in 2007. They are hand-held controllers
that allow students to interact and respond with our
Smartboards. Senteos connect to a local computer through
a receiver.
This allows every student to sign-in and
be recognised by the host computer. Senteos can
be used in every classroom for a variety of purposes.
Barnier PS is the first school in Australia to
have
used the Senteo response system.
